Yes you can!
All you need are some basic tools, a friend to help and a bit of free time and patience. I did my first conversion with the help of a friend and without any prior knowledge or experience. It took us 6 months to complete, but this was mainly time spent finding out information, looking for parts and learning along the way.
We've created this website so you don't have to struggle like we did. All the information you'll ever need is right here with step by step instructions that are easy to follow.
Even a novice could complete the project in under 2 weeks, we'll show you what parts you need, where to find them and how to identify them. What tools you'll need and where to find some great bargains as well as improvised alternatives to using specialist tools.
How much will it cost?
Well that entirely depends on what you want to build and how much time you spend looking for parts. You really can spend as little as £500, but you'll have to be willing to hunt around for the perfect donor cars and parts.
You can pick up a Rover 200/25 or MG ZR for spares or repair from as little as £100. However you can expect to pay up to £1,000 for the latest shape MG ZR. Then you can buy just the parts you need for around £300 - £400 or you could buy a full donor car for around £500-£800, take the parts you need and sell or scrap the rest.
If your looking to build a street sleeper or stripped out track car, then yes, it can be done for £500.
If you want to build a late model ZR to high standards you may be looking at £2,000 - £3,000, but that would be one amazing car!
